How can I import an HTML page into Word while preserving all HTML formatting?

Hi. At work, I'm trying to import a web page into Word while preserving all of the CSS formatting on the page. I know that Word uses openXML which differs vastly from HTML and CSS, so cut and paste options won't work well. I've also tried saving the complete web page and opening that in Word, but that either crashes Word or doesn't import certain styles. Is there a plugin or some reliable software I can use to help me import these pages to Word?

Thanks

Open the html file in internet explorer, save as mht, open the mht in word, save as docx.  Preserves the links, tables, pictures and general layout, you may need to adjust sizes to fit your page margins.  (If tables too wide, switch to landscape to adjust them)

The way to do is it to open the HTML file in LibreOffice Writer.

At that point, you can save as .docx with most of the basic formatting intact.

Of course, complex stuff.... tables, etc. will get messy, but you can easily retain italics, bold, and the like.

Thanks for responding, so sorry for the late reply. Way too busy lately!

At my job, I often have to create Word versions of source web pages for my clients to modify. They have to be Word versions because my clients have limited technical experience. My clients need the formatting preserved, just as shown on the webpage (if not, as close as possible) in the Word docs. This is especially necessary with HTML tables and ordered/unordered lists. It's just as difficult the other way around to get content from Word to HTML.

I honestly doubt this is possible, but I though I'd see what I could do about this issue. Any alternative approaches I could use here?

    Many Thanks

Word is not a good HTML editor, and it is not a good HTML generator.  So what is it that you are trying to do?   Please describe your starting point and desired end point. We may be able to suggest alternate approaches to reach that goal.

The only way I know of to "import" HTML into Word is via "file open" a HTML file, and "File SAVE AS" to HTML file type.

Opening a HTML file that was saved directly from a browser is not pretty. lots of strange table formatting, but the content is still there.

If you copy and paste content from browser into Word, then SAVE AS FILTERED HTML you will get a HTML file that has minimal formatting, but is still readable by both Word and many browsers.

Word document format and HTML formats are entirely different. Word has never been a good HTML editor and the problems you are experiencing are typical. I don't believe that your aims are achievable.
