How to get Word to open in the whole Screen?

Word for Mac via Office 365.

I open up a word document (new or from file) and it only opens it to a quarter or slightly more of the screen.  I have to drag it out to get it to open fully (not the full screen option (green button thing).  Its driving me nuts. I want it to just open to the size of the screen.

In the older versions of Word you opened a document and it would just open it to the size of the screen including the tabs at the top etc.

I have tried to find the answer to this with no success.

Anyone can help?

To have the document display fully within the Word window, go to the View tab of the Ribbon and choose Page Width from the Zoom settings.

There is View > Focus if you want to experiment with that, but the document doesn't fill the window the same was as with Zoom > Page Width.

You can use a macro to automatically size the widow to full screen when the document opens.

Thanks for your reply, it doesnt quite make sense but it also doesnt solve my problem.  I want to be able to open a document to the size of the screen without having to drag it out.  is that possible to change some setting so it just opens big?

    Thanks.

Option-Click and Drag to Fill theScreen or to the size you want.

You will notice the green button will have Plus sign.

Either drag bottom right corner diagonally to size need the click somewhere in the top.

Or, move to the top of the window where a down arrow will appear or to the bottom and a up-arrow will appear. also if you go to the sides you'll see right and left arrows.

Drag the arrows to size and position accordingly.

Now go and option-click green button again if it returns to the previous size, click once again to get back to your setting the close your file.

You resized document will stay that size.

    Hi Toucancan,

Apparently, there is no settings that can be changed for your Word application to always open on a specific size you want.

As for the window, Word will remember the previous window size you use. You can refer on Phillip’s post.

    Thanks,

    Mike
