Excel - Microsoft forms - Could not load an object because it is not available on this machine

Using Microsoft 7 64bit and office 2010 32bit.

I'm trying to use an excel file from interactive brokers, when I install their latest file I get the error "Microsoft forms - Could not load an object because it is not available on this machine". Interactive brokers says it's okay on everyone else's machine except mine so it must be me with the problem.

I do seem to have a missing Microsoft Flex Grid Control 6.0, but I don't think I have that installed, I have Visual Studio 2010 tools (x64), and then 2 x 2008 (x86) visual C++ Redistributable & 2010 (x64), & 2010 (x86) & 2013 (x86), 2015 (x64) & 2015 (x86).

Are all those installs too many and that's why it's not working?

I've looked at some other threads but not sure if this is the same as some other similar problems.

Thanks

By registering I was meaning getting registry entries set up so that the control is known about by software that needs to use it. For example, in my system there is a registry key

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{275DBBA0-805A-11CF-91F7-C2863C385E30}\InprocServer32

which points to the OCX file and there are multiple keys under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{6262D3A0-531B-11CF-91F6-C2863C385E30}.

These would normally be set up by the installation process for the control.

    I had this same error - the resolution was far simpler for me

    1. I went into Options --> Add-Ins --> Excel Add-Ins
    2. Disabled the Analysis Toolpak - VBA, Solver and Euro Currency Tools add-ins.
    3. I was able to leave the regular Analysis Toolpak

    The error went away

    thank you Bill, appreciate your help.

    I'll try Microsoft directly then for some help as I'm stuck and don't know what to do.

    thank bill appreciate the info,

    I guess I'm stuck at this point, without a solution.

    I'm not really sure about registering the .OCX file means if I copy it. I'm guessing that means it's unique to each licence for a machine?

    Do I have to ask Microsoft directly what the solution or what I should do?

    You could try copying MSFLXGRD.OCX from another computer but I guess it needs registering as well.

    I don't know enough about the history of this control to advise on how best to get it re-installed.

    However, I am sure that users of 64-bit Office would have a problem with their software; they need to be made aware of this.
