Does anyone have experience with using SWAY as a tool for creating electronic portfolios in an educational setting?  I am interested in more than simply a compilation of artifacts; I am interested in students reflecting and then being able to track student growth and progress as an institution.

Yes.  I work at a small liberal arts university, and we are looking at options for students to complete electronic portfolios.  I specifically work in the school of education where we currently document assignments using our LMS and we collect data on student growth using feedback from instructors.  We are looking to add that reflective piece AND the university is looking at campus-wide use of eportfolios for assessment purposes.

We already use Office 365 campus-wide, so I was investigating Sway as an option.  We use Canvas as our LMS, so there is that possibility too.

Just wanting to learn more about the abilities of Sway for our needs.

    Hi PipFin

did you get any further with this? I am using sway at the moment for teaching and had similar thoughts about switching to sway from Mahara when we start our Masters students on an e-portfolio assignment.  Would be interested in your progress

Hi PipFin, Gordon Hardy here from the Sway team at Microsoft. I would love to hear more about what you are trying to accomplish.  Can you expand on what you mean by student reflection, and growth and progress? Are you talking about short term progress (e.g. within a series of class lessons) or longer term (e.g. over multiple school years)? Are you wanting to compare a set of portfolios from different time periods of a students work?  Thanks for your interest in Sway.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

A quick question before we proceed.

What exactly do you mean by track students growth? Are you trying to track the number of students to view the particular file?

In education, teachers can use Sway to engage students by creating and sharing interactive lessons and study guides, field trip reports, assignments and class project recaps, which they can also share easily with parents.

By using Sway you can able to create reports, assignments, projects, study materials, and portfolios.

Refer the article given below to know more about SWAY for portfolios.

I hope the above information is helpful. I look forward to your reply to assist you further.

    Thank you.
