Use Office 365 Without Internet Connection

I have Office 365 installed on my laptop.  Yesterday I had to access Word from a location without an internet connection.  I got a message that the software could not verify my subscription. All I could do was view documents, which made the laptop and Word useless.  Is there a way I can use the program without an internet connection?  Contrary to some opinions, internet access is not yet universal!

Thanks.

    Hi Bob,

Yes, we need to first sign in to the Office apps with the Office 365 account under internet connection to activate them. Then we can use the Office apps without an internet connection. Here are the steps to activate the Office apps: Open Word with internet connected > File > Account > User Information > sign in with Office 365 account (which you get the Office apps). Click "Switch account" if it already has signed with another account.

I'd like to explain that Office 365 desktop apps need to be activated under internet connection one time every 30 days to keep it in full functional mode. Otherwise, the apps will get into reduced functional mode and could only view documents. Please refer to: Overview of licensing and activation in Office 365 ProPlus.

If it's not your scenario, please let us know the following information so we can assist you further:

    1. The screenshot of the message "could not verify subscription"
    2. Where is the Word file you access? From laptop local places or others?

    Regards,

    Jared

I agree with Anthonycas above. I have the same issue and expecting a subscriber to use the apps - which already have reduced functionality - when there is a local version of the full software on the computer is a horrible solution.

Even then, Jared Cheng, you indicate that I have to remember to use the apps once every 30 days to prevent getting locked out of my subscription if I happen to find myself in a remote location on the 31st day. You say it as if it's perfectly reasonable and anybody would be happy to have this information.

That's not how people expect to use computers. That's just bad user experience.

I don't get paid for logging into things and tinkering with apps, and I don't enjoy it; it's just something I have to get through in order to make a living.

Is there anybody like that who works at Microsoft?

The blocking of Office software usage when sn internet connection is not possible to verify subscription does nothing but make your paying customers angry. There should never be any protocol in place once you have alresdy paid for the annual license.  Here is an example. I sm sitting in my car with my laptop ready to work for several hrs while my wife drivess. Now i cant use my laptop due to MS insane verificstion policy.  If you keep ignoring reasonable customer concerns just watch us leave.  You need to chsnge this.
