How do I add a footnote in an excel spreadsheet?

    Say you have something like:    ABCD1   or ABCD1 EFGH

    you can select your 1 in the formula bar, then right click on the selected character  (1) and then choose format cekks in the pop up menu.  The font formatting dialog should appear.  Select  superscript and OK

    Spreadsheets are not designed for word processing so naturally, there abilities in this area are not as robust as MS Word.

    That would depend upon your interpretation of the term "footnote"

    Could be a "footer" that gets printed on a sheet of paper or a footnote at bottom of page to provide clarification or attribution of detail found above.

    Please provide more.

    Looking to be able to insert an actual footnote number (e.g. small 1 that looks like a cube formula) like in Word that corresponds to the same footnote number I enter at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

    Under Page Setup, there is a Header/Footer tab
