Word 2016 equation editor shortcuts

Hi everyone,

I'm learning how to use keyboard shortcuts in Equation Editor in Word 2016. More specifically, I'm trying to write mathematical equations and calculations using only keystrokes instead of having to use the upper tabs in Word because they take a lot of time. Unfortunately, I seem to be unable to enter special characters such as an integral sign or a theta using keystrokes. Apparently, to do so, all I have to do in Equation Editor is type "" followed by the keyword for the special character (for example, "int" for integral sign, "infty" for infinity, etc). However, this never works, as the only result I get is "\keyword." Does anyone know what I'm missing? If it makes any difference, I'm using Word for Mac.

Thanks!

Well, that's not quite all you have to do :-)

First, you have to go to Tools> AutoCorrect - Math AutoCorrect to check the box to enable the feature: Replace text as you type.

If you want to be able to have the feature active when working in the main document content, check the other box as well.

Thank you so much! :-) None of the tutorials I read bothered to mention AutoCorrect had to be on.
