Copying Headers & Footers from one document to another

Hi,

I am working from a Template which contains a header and a footer. It is directly centered in the middle and I am trying to copy this header to a pre-existing document. I want to use the header from the template as the new header for the existing document without changing its position and general format. However, when I copy and paste and press "keep source formatting" it doesn't work and refuses to center and some of the words copy to the below lines.

I should mention this header is a table and it may be edited in the near future (and therefore cannot be turned into an image). Is there any way to simply copy and paste this table header into a pre-existing document? I want it to essentially be a clone of the header in the template regarding size, position etc.

If you need me to elaborate on anything in particular or provide images of what I am talking about do not hesitate to ask. Thank you

-Shakil

Create a new document from the template and then select everything in the document to which you want to apply the header and footer EXCEPT for the final paragraph mark and the use copy and paste to paste the content of that document into the new document that you created from the template.

    Hi Shakil,

Are there any updates? You may try the workaround mentioned by Doug.

    Workarounds (from our MVP Doug)

Create new document from the template>copy and paste content from existing document to that newly created document.

    Hi Shakil,

Could you share with us the following things?

    1. Use the template to create a test document A.
    2. Copy header to the existing document. Capture a screenshot of your paste result. Save it as document B.
    3. Open Word>File>Account>capture a screenshot of all information under Product Information. Meanwhile, what is the version of your Windows?
    4. Do all existing files cannot paste with header format?

You may upload documents to a cloud storage and share with us guest links for them. So, other community members can also share their suggestion here. If you don’t want to share them with public, you can attach them via replying to my private message.

    Regards,

    Tim
