Option to save as .CSV (MS-DOS) is missing

Hi,

I am currently using excel 2016. I installed it using Microsoft office 365 Business.

I'm trying to save my spreadsheet as a CSV (MS-DOS) file, however whenever i click on the drop down list, it doesn't show up. I can save it as a .CSV (comma delimited) and .CSV UTF-8 (comma delimited) file. I originally downloaded the Chinese version of office 365 and then changed it to English to see if there was any difference but the problem is still there. I have at least 2 other computers who are using the same product and they have the option to save spreadsheets as .CSV (MS-DOS), it is currently only one computer which doesn't have it. I understand that the difference in saving it as a .CSV (comma delimited) is very minor however, i am currently using a program which must use a .CSV (MS-DOS) file.

Currently, the computer is only missing 4 save as type options: Text Macintosh (.txt) , Text (MS-DOS) (.txt) , CSV Macintosh (*.CSV) , CSV (MS-DOS) (*.CSV). All other options are available to select.

I have tried to update it. I have looked through the options, i have tried reinstalling the English version (as said above). Nothing has worked so far

I appreciate any help that could be provided on this very odd situation. Thank you in advance

Kind regards.

Just to update in regards to the other person who had the same issue.

He did a clean uninstall of his PC and Office. Reinstalled the English version instead of using his original Japanese version. The missing options (Txt Mac and MS-DOS and CSV Mac and MS-DOS) were now available for him to save as.

After that, he installed the Japanese language pack for his excel and those options disappeared again.

It seems to be that you can only have these options in the English version. Any other language (Not sure if all but at this current point in time, Japanese and Chinese are confirmed not adaptable) will remove them from the Save as type list.

    Hi 88Willionaire88,

Pllease press the  Windows + R keys at the same time, type excel /safe, press Enter to start Excel and check if the issue occurs.

Besides, to better understand your situation, could you please provide the following information?

    1. A screenshot of the available formats that you can save as .
    2. If you create a new workbook, does the issue occur?
    3. Does the issue occur to other people in your organization that have the same Windows OS?
    4. What actions have you performed before the issue occurred for the first time? For example, a system update and a software installation. Has Excel worked as you expect before?
    5. Your Windows OS version and Office version.

For Windows OS version, press Windows key + S to search for About your PC. Please capture a screenshot like below.

For Office version, you can find it by clicking File > Account > Product Information. Please capture a screenshot like below.

Then click  About Excel to share with us the bit version (32 bit or 64 bit).

    Thanks,

    Tina

    Hi 88Willionaire88,

Have you checked my reply above? Can you save the workbook in the format you prefer now?

    Thanks,

    Hi 88Willionaire88,

Thanks for your updated detailed information.

On Chinese Windows 7 with Chinese Office 2016 installed, there are no formats (e.g. CSV (MS-DOS)) you prefer after clicking Save as in Excel. You may install English Windows 7 and English version Office, and then check if there is any improvement.

If the issue persists, please also provide the following information to help better understand your situation?

    1. What is your Windows 7  language? Is it Chinese?
    2. Is your Windows 7 64 bit OS or 32 bit OS?

    Thanks,

    Tina

    Hi Tina,

    Thank you for replying.

After testing it in safe mode, the problem is still there. The option to save as .CSV (MS-DOS) does not show.

In regards to your other questions above:

    1)

These are the options i have on the PC without the .CSV (MS-DOS) option

This is one of the computers with all the options available including the .CSV (MS-DOS) as highlighted.

    1. If we create a new workbook or open a saved workbook, its still the same. The option is still not showing.
    2. Currently, it is only 1 computer which is having this issue. I did speak to someone else on another tech forum who is from Japan and he is having the same issue. He is also currently trying to figure out why. He hasn't replied yet.
    3. Nothing out of the ordinary was performed. As soon as we installed it on the computer it was already like that. The only differance was the language version. This one used the Chinese installation whereas the other 2 used English. We uninstalled it and used my English version to install it but nothing changed, the problem is still there. Apart from this issue, Excel functions perfectly fine.
    4. All computers are running the exact same specs and versions:

    Microsoft Office 365 Business

    Excel Version 1707 (Build 8326.2087 Click-to-run), running at 32Bit

I hope this information helps, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. I look forward to your reply.

    Thank you

    Kind Regards,
