Hi, how do you put a border around the whole table of contents? I tried borders/paragraph but it breaks up when table is updated

Thanks :-)

Insert the table of contents inside a single-cell table and apply borders to that table.

    Thank you that worked :-)

Is there any way to change the default so I can store the style in normal.dot?

No, the default isn't configurable, but you can select the table with the TOC inside it, and press Alt+F3 to store it as a building block. If you set the Gallery dropdown to Table of Contents, and give the building block a name such as Bordered (or anything alphabetically before Built-In), the table/TOC will appear at the top of the References > Table of Contents gallery.
