Renewing Office 365 Military Appreciation Edition

In March 2013 I purchased Office 365 Military Appreciation Edition.  Since this is a one year subscription, how do I renew it at the same price of $69.99?

So a person cannot,  repeat,  cannot automatically renew their military appreciation edition at $69.99/year without buying a new subscription from a military exchange...and if buying online from the exchange must wait for the new subscription to arrive by mail...mail to APO/FPOs can take a good  while to arrive.   And then you must uninstall the current subscription/Office 365, reinstall under the new subscription, and then reaccomphish setup of the software like Outlook settings to get your email accounts working again. And when you have shared your subscription with up to 4 more people you must then start all over in sharing your subscription with them, those folks uninstalling/reinstalling Office 365, etc.

Come on Microsoft...you can do better than this...this is nothing more than trying to push military folks towards buying the regular subscription at $99.99/year where auto subscription renewal can be done without uninstalling  and reinstalling Office 365.   Thanks for the military appreciation edition but fully appreciate the military and allow automatic renewal at $69.99.   Thank you.

I'm replying because this thread is old and misleading because it is a top result in google searches.

As of January 2017, I can safely attest that this is NO LONGER TRUE. I purchased two new boxed keys that were on sale on the exchange site, received the them 3 days later in the mail, and installed them via office.com/setup using the renewal process. I did NOT have to uninstall or reinstall any applications. I ran the setup app on my desktop (the primary account) and it did nothing more than update the renewal date. Nothing more was installed.

I checked the family installs, and the only change was that the expiration warning no longer appeared when I started office.

It renewed easily and since I had two keys (at $49.99 ea on sale), I now am good for 2 more years on all 5 computers. Nice!

Just to clear things up.  This is my 5th year of using Office 365 Military Appreciation Edition and I've been able to renew every year in this fashion (it has not changed and works every time).

    1.  You'll get a notice that your Office 365 subscription is expiring soon.

    2.  Go to https://www.shopmyexchange.com/microsoft-office-365-home-subscription-military-edition/8011915

There you will be able to purchase Office 365 Military Appreciation 1-year subscription.  It was on sale for $49.99 so if you ever see that snatch it up.

    3.  I shipped it to my home and it arrived in 3 days.

    4.  Go to office.com/myaccount and log in using your Microsoft ID.

    5.  Click on Manage Account

    6.  From within the Account Management you'll see your Office 365 Home subscription.  Click on Payment and billing

    7.  Look for the line that reads Have a prepaid card or code for Office 365?  Click on the link to the right that reads Redeem a card code

    8.  The box you received from the Exchange will have the card with a set of numbers and letters that you enter in.  Once you complete the steps then 1 year will be added to your subscription.  In other words, it won't be a year from the date you entered the code but it will add one year to your existing expiry date.  I just entered a code today 7/29/2017 but my subscription was set to expire on 8/26/2017.  After I entered the code (today) the new expiration date for my subscription was 8/26/2018.

Incidentally, there's a new program available for all Vets where they can now shop online at the Exchange if they sign up for it.  You no longer have to be active duty or retiree to take advantage of this great deal from Microsoft but if you served at all and are now a Vet you can buy your own code.

Would this be nice if the system let us upgrade yearly without buying the box?  Sure.  But, as I said, I just paid $49.99 for a year (vice $69.99) so I'm happy to have saved $20.

    Rich,

Thanks so much for this info as it helps a lot.  FYI - I just bought 6 annual subscriptions for $29.99 each today! What a savings!!!
