Shared Workbooks removed in Excel 2016?

For anyone else that's wondering what the hell happened to the Shared Workbooks function in Excel, it's been removed from the Review tab and "hidden"  https://support.office.com/en-us/article/What-happened-to-shared-workbooks-150fc205-990a-4763-82f1-6c259303fe05?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

The Shared Workbook function is being forcefully replaced with "co-authoring" which requires the file to be uploaded to an online share such as One Drive or Share point.  https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Collaborate-on-Excel-workbooks-at-the-same-time-with-co-authoring-7152aa8b-b791-414c-a3bb-3024e46fb104?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

We have many shared workbooks on our local file server and there is no way these are going to be moved to online storage.  I am being forced to re-add the Share workbook menu items to well over 50 copies of Office for our employees.  This is a huge inconvenience and waste of my time.

I actually added the buttons to the ribbon in the Review tab.  The steps to add them to the ribbon or the quick access bar are the same.  When you go to File > Options you can click on Customize Ribbon and then add the items the same way as the article describes.

I've included a screenshot of my options screen.  Perhaps the icons in front of the button names will help you find the correct choices.

If it's not feasible to to share workbooks without storing them in the cloud how have we been doing this for years?  There is no reason to remove the existing menu items for sharing workbooks.  The "legacy" functionality is still there and is being used by thousands of people.  I have no interest in moving our files to the cloud storage as our in house file server is functioning just fine and utilizes our domain and security controls for securing the documents.  Our users also have no interest in changing the way they access files when they have setup numerous shortcuts and processes to make things very user friendly and efficient.
