Inserting Images into a Table Cell without Moving the Text

Hello, first time poster here.

I recently upgraded to Microsoft 2013 and Windows 8 OS. And now I've encountered a problem that I hadn't had before.

I'm trying to insert an image into a table cell. I have it formatted as "in front of text." When I begin moving the image into place, the text in the cell moves! In previous versions of Word, I could go into more layout options and just uncheck the layout in table cell option and it would fix the problem.

The problem that I have now is that the layout in table cell option is grayed out and I can't uncheck it!

Please help because this is extremely frustrating due to the fact that I was able to fix this problem before. Thanks.

I came across this old thread because I had the exact same problem today. I don't know if it's the ultimate solution, but by trial and error I discovered that moving the object anchor above or below the affected table cell moved the text back into position. Here's hoping this works for others in the same boat.

This is another one of microsofts lunatic creations for no reason at all.

For some reason they took this away and grey out the box.

If you save your file in 2003 or early format - .doc, they the box is ungreyed and you can now uncheck this box and put your graphics anywhere in the cell without moving the text in the cell.

I can see why there is such a move to Apple. Microsoft keeps making it harder and harder to use their software.

I have started using Google docs for this.

I have the same issue - I've got text in a table that moves when I try to add an image / shape over the area where the table is. The image layout options are "in front of text" and "move with text" is not checked.

"More Layout Options" - "Layout in table cell" is checked and greyed out.

The only way I've managed to 'fix' it is to draw a LARGE box over the table, make the 'fill' and 'outline' "none" and then group my images to that box over the table. I don't know why that works?!

Could someone PLEASE help or suggest a workaround that's not quite so convoluted.

While the Layout in Table Cell option is also checked, but disabled here, I cannot replicate the problem.

If you want to send me a copy of the document, I will investigate the issue.
