How do I get Word to stop automatically inserting emojis and emoji text?

I am trying to type (Attachment B).

I keep getting (Attachment stupid smiley face and it won't allow me to undo it. I have tried retyping, highlighting and changing the font back to what I am using and it reverts to the emoji. I just want the emojis turned off period. I have no use for them in professional papers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

By default Word does not make that conversion from B) to a smiley face. It does convert :) and some other sequences, because they're included in the default AutoCorrect list. Evidently on your computer the B) has been added to that list, but you can remove it.

Click File > Options > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options. In the list of entries, locate B) in the left column, click on it, and click the Delete button.

Thank you.  That worked. I did not add the emoticons to the auto-correct list, but there are several, like the conversion from <3 to the "heart," but now I know how to go in and get rid of them as I need to.
