    Hello,

some aspects of Excel can only be created in Excel for desktop. That includes adding a trendline to a chart. This cannot be done in Excel online. Edit the Excel workbook in Excel and add the trendline there. After that, you can open the workbook in Excel online and can see the trendline, but you can't create the trendline in Excel online.

    Hi Mandal,

Using Excel Online in a web browser looks a lot like the Excel desktop app. However, there are still some differences between them. For example, not all file formats are supported, and some features may not work or work differently than the desktop app. In Excel online, it is not feasible to add a trendline for a scatter graph. I suggest you upload your feedback via uservoice, this is the best way to let our related team know that.

I cannot answer your question, since I do not use Excel Online.

But you can calculate R^2 directly with a formula, if you wish.

(If your intent is simply to display R^2 in the chart, this alternative will not be useful to you.)

To demonstrate, it would be helpful to know the following information.

    1. What are the ranges of the X and Y data in the worksheet?
    2. What type of trendline are you using (linear, exponential, etc)?
