How do I change a header on the second page?

I am trying to learn about headers from the Word 2010 dummies book.  I have also read the chapter on sections.  What I am trying to do is to create a header for the first page of a resume and have a different header for the second page. On the first page geader it  would have the Name in big letters then perhaps the address and email.  The second page header would be different.   The second page header would have the name again but in smaller letters and then the page.  Something like this  JOHN SMITH--------page 2.  Good enough?

Well how do I go about it?   On the first page I start off by creating 2 sections. The second section ends at the bottom of the first page. I do this by going to-- I think page layout and then sections and selecting that option.  When I scroll through the document sure enough it  tells me there are 2 sections.  The second section begins right at the top of the  second page.   I then go back the the first page and create the header. Now I go to the second section of the document which begins on page two and select the option to edit the header.  Well, no matter how I edit the header it affects the header on the first page as well!  It behaves the exact same way as if I did not divide the document into sections at all. How do I edit the header on the second  page while keeping the header on the first page the way that it is?

You do NOT need to use multiple Sections to achieve what you are after.

Each Section of a document includes a number of headers - First Page, Primary, Even Page, Odd Page

In your case, you need to set up the header for your following pages and then click on the Different First Page button in the Options section of the Header & Footer Tools Design tab of the ribbon and in the empty pane that then appears, set up the information that you want to appear on the first page of the document.

It sounds like you do not have the Different First Page option set.  Select the content of the header as you now have it and press CTRL+x to cut it to the clipboard, then check the Different First Page box in the Options section of the Header & Footer Tools>Design tab of the ribbon and the use CTRL+v to paste the contents of the clipboard into the First Page Header.

Ok!  that worked. Following the method you described I created the header for the second page. And then did one for the first page.  My only question is: Is there a way to slighly edit the headers past page two?  For example the header on the second page says:  JOHN SMITH-------page two.  If I include a third page I natually want it to have the same name--but with-------page three.  The same if I did a page four. I don't see a way to edit the headers past page two without affecting the previous pages.   I dont want word just to auomatically number the pages because I may want to use a fancy script instead of a simple number.  It most likely will not be more than 4 pages.
