Powerpoint Slide-Audio Sync Times Incorrect in Automated Presentations

I use Powerpoint 2013 to create automated slide shows that have words to a song projected with the audio of the song itself.  I create the slides that contain the verses of the song and add the audio file to (usually) the second slide of the presentation.  I set the playback and animation choices.  Then I record the timings, and finally create a Powerpoint Show file.  In Powerpoint 2007, this worked fine.  There was some difficulty syncing the audio and the words in Powerpoint 2010.  In Powerpoint 2013, no matter what I do, the timing of the automatic slide presentation loses sync by the fourth slide.  The slides are always behind the audio.  I tried disconnecting external devices, turning off software applications, etc.  Nothing corrects the problem.  This worked well and easily in the past.  Now it never works.  Your help would be appreciated.

It is now 2017.  My pastor asked me to put together a few worship songs for Sunday School that are automated using PowerPoint.  I have the same problem today that I experienced in 2014.  The timing of the slides does not match the rehearsed timings after a couple of slides go by.  Checking the disable hardware acceleration didn't help but did blacken out the slide thumbs on the left hand side of the PowerPoint window.  Your help would be appreciated.

    Hi George,

Mention the file format of the presentation? Is it .ppt or .pptx?

Let us try disabling hardware acceleration in PowerPoint and check how it works.

    Steps:

    1. Click the File tab.
    2. Click Options.
    3. Click Advanced.
    4. Under Display, select the Disable hardware graphics acceleration check box.
    5. Click Ok.

If you still have issues, you may reply and we’ll be happy to help you.

    Thank you

I tried to create an automated presentation again tonight.  I noticed that the timer for the duration of the slide jumps forward a second within the first 5 seconds of rehearsing the timing.  The total duration timer keeps going ahead one second at a time.  In addition, for three or four slides after the first slide, the slide duration timer sticks at the 9 second mark for one second while the total duration timer keeps going ahead one second at a time.  Note: the "Disable hardware graphics accelerator" item is checked and doesn't seem to make a difference with this issue.  My friend suggested that I either install an old version of MS Office that worked properly or look for another software package that does the job.  I would prefer to us the current MS Office if at all possible.  Your help would be appreciated.

I tried to create the same presentation using MS PowerPoint ppt and pps formats 97-2003.  The problem was worse.  My observations of the timing during rehearsals of both pptx/ppsx and ppt/pps type files is the following.  Passing of the seconds for the slide is not always uniform from second-to-second.  The same holds true for the passing of the seconds for the presentation as a whole.  Frequently, the passing of the seconds for the slide does not occur at the same time as the passing of the seconds for the presentation as a whole.  It gives the appearance of being "jerky" and not synchronized in its timing.  When moving from one slide to the next, there can be a delay of the timing startup going from the first second to the next.  All of these errors must accumulate and cause a final mismatch for the timing and synchronization of the entire presentation.  Your help would be appreciated.  This did work well in the past when using older versions of PowerPoint.  I am using a new HP Envy Phoenix to generate these files; and the PC is not a cheap one.

There were two boxes to choose from: (1) Disable hardware graphics acceleration and (2) Disable Slide Show hardware graphics acceleration.  I disabled both by checking both boxes.  I saved the file with these new settings and generated a new PowerPoint Show file.  When I played the file, there was no improvement.  Then I re-rehearsed the times, saved the pptx and new ppsx files.  The timing was more delayed than at the first.  As an aside, the file projects in a letterbox format instead of the usual boxed format.  Can that be changed?  Thanks for your help.
