I have Office 2007 on my PC and want to install Office 2016. Do I have to uninstall Office 2007 first, or can I install Office 2016 on the computer, expecting it to remove or override the Office 2007 functions?

Upgrading to 2016 from 2007 is dead simple. After stepping through the MS hoops logging in with your MS Outlook.com email (or creating a new one) the download of 2016 can be done using your product key. Running the install is typical and all your settings will transfer to 2016.
You don't need to lift a finger with your Outlook settings either. The IMAP and SMTP and port settings all transfer over flawlessly as do the PST and IMAP folders. Outlook just worked. The program needed to do some housecleaning of the folders so give it a while.
You will find the old MS Office 2007 programs are still installed. Once you are sure all is the way you want it you can uninstall the old programs.
A word about 32bit vs 64bit. Correct me if I'm wrong but Office 2016 installer will install the same bit version as the old 2007 program. My old version was 32bit and my new, 2016 version is also 32bit. I read somewhere that you should not mix bit versions. Not sure why.
Thanks for the quick response.
I don't want to have both versions running on the computer. My question is: do I uninstall Office 2007 before installing Office 2016, or will Office 2016 remove Office 2007 as it's going through the installation process?
Hi Soccer,
You may check the Microsoft article below and refer to the section Office 2007 and 2016(or 2013) side by side and see if it helps.
Hope it helps. Try the suggestion and let us know the result at your earliest convenience.
