Excel Online workbook - change default page orientation for printing?

Hello,

I have a workbook that I update regularly for a large team. The front sheet frequently needs to be printed by the team for use in the field.

My question: I'm wondering if there is a way to get this document to print in landscape orientation by default when using the button highlighted in the image below. The print functionality for Excel Online seems very rudimentary, so this may not be a possibility yet.

Considerations (answers before questions):

  • Opening the document to print it is not an option; the document is View-Only. I don't allow downloading or opening of the document because it's imperative that people are using the latest version, and if I allow downloading of the file, people will usually save a copy on their desktop and print from there as needed (bad habit I can't get them to break), frequently resulting in outdated prints. This is why the Print button above is the only available option, other than printing directly through the browser (which you'd need to change the orientation for every time no matter what).
  • The page is printed very frequently. Having to change the print settings every time it's printed is very time-consuming, and often times people forget to even do it (so they end up printing it twice and wasting paper).

Thanks for your help!

Adam

This is dumb.  Truth is still truth.

If you set an orientation and paper size in Excel and save it, Excel online should honor those settings.  It is a pretty silly oversight on Microsoft's part.
