Are Office 365 licences sold on ebay legitimate?

Hi,

A friend of mine has purchased an Office 365 annual licence from ebay for £29.99.  It's not difficult to find if you search for it.

He is recommending I do the same, but I want to know what I'm getting myself in to - is it a legitimate way of acquiring an Office 365 licence?

Obviously it is a lot cheaper than from Office 365 direct, but if it is not legitimate why is it not stopped, when it is done so blatantly and publically?

Thanks,

A

Its a Q that has no definite/defined response, a user group has no means of validating what is offered, so there's no need to be facetious.

If you check the offers in Ebay some show another language, in the pkge description

You already know the price from MS or Currey's if you have checked

I have known people to have good luck purchasing on eBay. Their Office 365 keys activated and they have done it that way for several years. The same person bought a Windows 10 Pro license for $34. It's still working today. I would not download from a seller's provided link. I would download the program from Microsoft and use the provided key code for validation. If it did not validate most eBay sellers will refund your money.

I will take my chance of being labelled  a 'smarty pant', if something seems to good to be true, it probably is.

Microsoft Office 365 is a Microsoft service.  Nobody else can provide the service.  However, Microsoft does provide OEM service providers cut price access/deals to Office 365, usually for limited periods.  HP computers/laptop come with free Office 365. Obviously HP must pay Microsoft for the service.

PS: you pay your money and take your chance.  That is what you do whether or not it is a smarty pants answer.  Although, I think that there was a bit of a mix-up re this comment!
