I have just downloaded OneNote for iPad and I want to transfer printing to typing, however I can't find the option that says "ink to text". The only one I have is 'convert to Shapes'. I have searched different articles and none of them are helpful. How to I convert to text? Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks :)

I have since found out the ink to text is not available on the ipad version. You can sync to the desktop version and once the process is done it resyncs the txt back to the ipad.

The app has no ink to text button. Looking at different postings many people seem to have the same problem. I am drawing with Apple Pencil on an IPad Pro.

    Hello Mel,

    Sorry for delayed response.

You need to write with a stylus, this “ink” can be converted to searchable text via OneNote’s Ink to Text feature. To handwrite notes using a stylus, click the Draw tab, click any of the color pens in the Tools group and start writing. Click Type on the Draw tab when you’re done. To convert handwriting to text, select what you want to convert and click Ink to Text.

Hope the above information helps. If you need further assistance with Office application, let us know and

    will be glad to help.

    Thank you.

There is no "ink ink to text" on OneNote for iPad.  Just downloaded version 16.8

I have the same issue using the latest version of OneNote (downloaded from the Apple App Store 12/21/2017) on an iPad Pro 12.9" with an Apple Pencil. In spite of the write ups from more than 2 years ago! it appears OneNote for iOS still does NOT offer handwriting conversion to typed text. Very disappointing as it significantly limits my use of OneNote on the iPad. Guess I'll have to go looking for a competing product that actually does what it claims to do.

    Hello,

I have the same issue as Mel.

In the Draw tab, there are the following options: A Text Mode - an eraser - three different markers - color options - thickness options - Convert to Shapes - Stylus, i.e. there is no Type option, alas, as per your suggestion above.

Consequently, I can't convert my handwritten notes into typed text, and I hope you can help me out.

Btw, I'm using a stylus of the targus brand.

    Thank you in advance.
