I am using Word 2013 and need to select multiple pictures at once.  When I went to help, it said that I could do it using the Ctrl key.  However, I don't seem to be able to make that work.  Is there some option I have turned on or off that I need to change?

thanks much!

Karen

We appreciate that you have provided us the information needed. Selecting an multiple images at once with the help of the CTRL key is a great idea.We encourage you to post your request on UserVoice, under the appropriate category, or vote and add your comments to similar requests. We’re listening and we really appreciate your feedback. You can also contact our disability support through this link. For the meantime, you can also try another work around for selecting multiple images below:

  1. Right click first image, open 'Size and Position' box (or open box from the Picture -> Format -> Size box. You need the size box, not just the height and width options in the tab, to disable the lock aspect ratio or this won't work).
  2. Disable 'Lock Aspect Ratio'c. Change height and width to desired sized. Close box.
  3. Click on next image and hit F4. Continue by clicking on sequential images and hitting F4.
  4. For large documents, use the vertical scroll bar on the right hand side to move between images.

Feel free to post back should you have any further concern.

I’m not seeing the same things you are.  Let me try to tell you a little bit better what I’m trying to do and what I’m  seeing.

I am legally blind and a singer.  In order to be able to see the music, I need to take a small piece of the sheet music and blow it up about 4 times and get the words up to about a 70pt font.  Here’s a synopsis of the steps I go through.

I start with a .pdf of the music that I created via scanner.  I select a piece of the music and copy/paste it into a Word 2013 document.  So here is an example of a couple of lines. (smaller here to save room) J

Ok so it won't let me copy in the images. :-( But it is one picture of music, return, line of text, return, image, return, text return etc.

Here’s the part I’m looking to streamline a bit.  After I get to this point (which takes no short amount of time), I want to make each of the music snippets (images) 8“wide and 1.5” high.  Right now I can only do that for each individual image.

Here are the steps I use:

    -       select the image

    -       select Picture Tools-Format

    -       select arrow in bottom right corner of Size

    -       Uncheck Lock Aspect Ratio

    -       Set width-absolute to 8”

    -       Set height-absolute to 1.5”

I have to repeat these steps for each measure of the music.  One of the recent songs I did, had over 250 pieces to adjust.  If I could just select them all and do this process once, it would make my life immeasurably easier.

When I tried your most recent reply, I am still not allowed to select more than one image.

When I select the picture, press Home and then Select, my only options are:

    • Select All (selects the entire document text and images)
    • Select Objects
    • Select Text with similar formatting

I don't have an option to select all images.  Are you using Word 2013?  I'm using Windows 7 in case that makes a difference too.

    Hi Karen,

To select multiple pictures at once you can follow the steps provided below:

    1. Select one image.
    2. Click the Home tab, click the drop down Select and choose Select all.

    • To select objects that are hidden, stacked, or behind text, click Select Objects. To select an object, click when your pointer becomes a selection arrow as it moves over an object. To select multiple objects, press and hold Ctrl while you click the objects that you want.
    • To select text with similar formatting, click Select All Text with Similar Formatting.
    • To open the task pane where you can select, multiselect, show, hide, or change the order of objects, click Selection Pane, and then click the options that you want.
