Thumnail preview of images doesn't display correctly in a document library

Hi,

I added a "image" content type in my Document Library and I added a "thumbnail preview" column on the view of the Document Library, I found that the Thumnail preview doesn't show the preview of image but a logo of blank file. The image was able to have a preview in Image Library though.

For my clients, a project have lots of different datas, some are in word format, some are images, a lot of hand writing documents are scaned as images before uploaded, in order to avoid making users move back and forth between Document Library and Image Library when they try to read datas, I don't want to put documents and images separately in two different libraries.

Do you have any solution please?

Thanks a lot.

    Hi Yidong,

To better understand your situation, we need to confirm the following information:

1.How did you add the "Thumbnail preview" column to the document library? Please help list the detailed steps.

2.What is the file format of the image?

3.Does this happen to one document library or other libraries?

    Hi,

I have a similar problem, except that Thumbnail Preview is working beautifully in one library and we can't figure out how to replicate it in other libraries.

    Any help would be great.

    Hi Yidong,

    Thanks for the updated information.

Your description is detailed and I could understand that the thumbnail preview of image does not show preview in a document library. I'd like to explain that this is an expected behavior. I just checked it on my side, the thumbnail preview of image works now. Let us know if it does not work on your side and we will continue helping you.

We suggest You can also try uploading pictures to picture library to have a preview of the image. Or you can switch to modern UI and view items with tile previews, it will display previews of image.

If you'd like to display preview for images in Thumbnail column of document library, we suggest submitting your feedback in SharePointUserVoice. Uservoice is the best way to submit user's requirement and let related team hear voice.

    Your understanding is appreciated.

    Regards,

    Joanne

    Hi Joanne,

    Thanks for your response.

The format of the image is JPG, but I also tried with PNG and it didn't work neither.

Hers's how I added the "Thumbnail preview":

    1. I created a content type "Project Image" base on "Image" type.

    1. I added the "Project Image" type to the Library.

    1. I added the "Thumbnail Preview" to the view of the docment Library.
