Videos do not play full length in kiosk mode, but do in other modes

I have a simple presentation with 4 video links on the 1st page. If you click a video link it opens a custom slideshow that plays the specific video and goes back to the 1st page when done. When i play this in default mode (presented by a speaker full screen) it plays the videos fine. But in kiosk mode, the videos will never play all the way through. They end abruptly (one around the 5 minute mark and another around the 8 minute mark) and go back to the 1st page. I feel I've tried every possible troubleshooting for this. I've converted the videos from mp4 to avi, changed settings in pp, tried pp 2010,  2013, & 2016, tried setting an object with a delayed animation that happens after the video should end. But the videos will not play all the way through in kiosk mode. This should be very easy but it is driving my crazy! Thanks for any help

    Hi,

We need additional details to address your concern with playing the videos in kiosk mode. Kindly answer the following:

    • Which Windows 10 build are you using? Click here for instructions on how to find your Windows 10 build.
    • Which version of Office 2016 are you using? Check this link for the steps on how to find your Office 2016 version.
    • Is PowerPoint a part of an Office 365 subscription? If so, which edition?
    • Are you getting any error messages? If yes, please provide us a screenshot.
    • Is it happening to a specific presentation?
    • Did you make any changes before this issue happened?

In the meantime, check Office for any updates. If Office is up-to-date, open PowerPoint in safe mode to determine if the issue is not caused by one of the installed add-ins.

We will be waiting for your response.

    Hi,

We need to gather additional details for us to determine and provide you the appropriate advice to your concern.

Just to verify, on which specific PowerPoint version are you having issues with, PowerPoint 2013 or PowerPoint 2016?

You mention that the edition of your Office is both Professional Plus. Just to verify, how did you obtain it? Is it organization/company-provided program? Are you connected to a domain?

For possible solution, have you tried to refer to the Set the 'Play' options for a video in your presentation article and check if this helps?

We look forward to your response.

This is an issue I've found on 4 different computers. The specs on each are:

    1. Desktop with older nvidia card, Windows 8.1, with current updates, Office 2013 Professional Plus (with latest updates)
    2. Desktop with gtx 1050ti, Windows 10, with current updates, Office 2013 Professional Plus (with latest updates)
    3. Desktop with gtx 780ti, Windows 10, with current updates (running Pro, version 1709, build 16299.214), Office 2016 Professional Plus (Office 365 ProPlus, Powerpoint version 1801, build 9001.2138)
    4. Surface Pro 3 i5, Windows 10, with current updates. Office 2016 Professional Plus (Office 365 ProPlus, not sure but should be latest)

This happens on any brand new presentation I create. It seems if a video is over 5 minutes or so it will end abruptly around 5 minutes. This only happens in Kiosk mode though. But it happens with any video I put in the slideshow and set up the following:

    Steps to recreate:

    1. new slideshow
    2. create 2nd slide and drag video from windows explorer into that slide, resize video to fill slide
    3. right click video and select 'start' and change the video to start automatically
    4. select 'custom slide show' and create new custom show with just that 2nd slide.
    5. on 1st slide, create hyperlink text that links to the custom show and has 'show and return' selected
    6. Open 'set up slide show' and change to kiosk mode
    7. Play show from beginning and click hyperlink

The video will autoplay. then after around 5 minutes will either return to the 1st slide, or just go black.

I've converted videos to mp4, avi, & wmv and have had this same issue no matter what. I've started in safe mode and the issue still occurs.
