MS Word 2016 Corrupted template

We are low vision, so we have the screen set to black background, white letters. On some files, when opened, part of the text has reverted to black font, thus being invisible. A line or two, half a line, sometimes a paragraph. The text is still there and can be retrieved by selecting all and changing the font color, but the change is not permanent. New files [starting with a blank document] become corrupted, as well. The same files on another machine look just fine.

Hi Christina, it is possible your Normal template in Word is corrupt, since these files look fine on other PC's

    Close Microsoft Word

Open Windows File Explorer and navigate to the following folder (replace MyName with your login name)

    C:\Users\Myname\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

    Delete Normal.dotm

Close File Explorer and open Microsoft Word

    Check these files again . . .

Since you belive it is a corrupt normal.dotm template, why not let word regenerate it.

    Close all Word sessions

    Go to the normal.dotm folder,

    rename normal.dotm ie normal 01.dotm

    start word

The next time you make a change tha needs to be swtord in the template it will be automatically regenerated.

If you need to, you can copy your styles and macros from the old normal into the new one.

    FIND NORMAL.DOT / FIND NORMAL.DOTM
