aUTO cORRECT cAPS lOCK doesn't work

I have Office 365 installed on my Windows 10 notebook.

Like some others, I am having difficulties with the auto correct caps lock for Word and Outlook.

It works fine for Powerpoint and Excel, but not Word and Outlook.

When I have caps lock on by accident, it doesn't automatically correct it (change "aUTO" to "Auto"; and switch off Caps Lock.

I have tried various solutions suggested, eg. deleting normal.dotm, going into Regedit, unchecked "Ignore words in Uppercase", etc, but NONE of these methods work for me.

Any other suggestions.

I am very surprised that Microsoft still has not resolved this matter after so many complaints.  To suggest that it only affects some installations (and not all) is not acceptable.

Thanks in advance and regards

Jeff

    Hi Joshua

I did a clean boot as per your suggestion.  Using Systems Configuration (msconfig), I disabled all the non-Microsoft services. And, I found out that autocorrect finally worked.

I finally found out that the problem was caused by a service called Lenovo Hotkey Client Loader.  My notebook is a Lenovo, so I am assuming that this comes standard software from Lenovo.

Anyway, by disabling Lenovo Hotkey Client Loader, I have finally solved the problem.

    Thanks

    Jeff

    Hi jlai.07,

There are many root causes of this issue, please try the following suggestions:

    1. Perform a clean boot in Windows to eliminate software conflicts, check if it helps.
    2. You can download and install the Microsoft Office Configuration Analyzer Tool 2.2 on this link. This will provide a quick and easy way to analyze Microsoft Office programs for known configurations that cause problems.
    3. If possible, could you please switch to another keyboard and check if the issue still occurs.

If the issue persists, could you please provide the detailed version of OS?

    Regards,

    Joshua

I have now tested in Word as part of Office 365 ProPlus (not Office 365 Business but it is version 1712, just like your installation), and the option seems to be working again.

If it doesn't work properly, why isn't Microsoft fixing this.  I had this problem for months. Tried many ways, and still couldn't work. Why aren't others complaining?

My guess is that very few people have noticed that "Correct accidental usage of cAPS LOCK key" has stopped working. You can report it to Microsoft in the Uservoice forum at http://word.uservoice.com.

The issue occurs when we turn on CAPSLOCK before opening Office 2016 and use SHIFT to type capital/small letters.

If you ever turn off CAPSLOCK after that, the auto correct feature will work again.

    Regards,

    Joshua

Joshua, the option discussed here was designed so that it should detect when Caps Lock has been activated by mistake and then turn off Caps Lock. If you have to turn off Caps Lock manually, then the option clearly isn't working.
