Powerpoint... text is not building in by paragraph

I have a group of bullet pointed text that I simply want to build in by each bullet. The animation is set to fade in by Effect Option>By Paraphgraph. When I view it in the animation pane, it looks like it is set up correctly (each paragraph numbered), and all set to start "On Click". However, when I preview it in slideshow mode and click it, all of the bullets come in at once, then simply blink as I click for each paragraph. I need each bullet to build in, one after another. Help.

Hi mlowe_zone,

According to your description, I’d like suggest you try the following steps:

  1. Open PPT presentation and select the each line of bullet pointed text .
  2. Under the Animations select a Animation effect you needed and apply it to bullet pointed text.
  3. Then you can select the next line of bullet pointed text and repeat the step2.
  4.  After you set all bullet pointed texts up, you can display the presentation to check the result.

Meanwhile, you can also refer to the Change or remove animation effects in PowerPoint for Mac.

If there is any misunderstanding, please  share a OneDrive link which include the reproduce video via Private Message.

This can help us better understand the issue.

Regards,

Virgil

Before anything else you need to update your Office installation - version 15.41 is current, so yours is about 4 months behind.

Assuming you mean the Fade Entrance Effect [not sure because there is no "By Paragraph" setting for that effect]: You need to select each item one at a time in the Animation Pane, then in the Timing section specify the Start, Duration & Delay for that item.

Typically, the first item would be left at the Start default of On Click (unless you want it to start automatically) with the others set to After Previous.

Duration determines how long it takes for the item to fully appear.

Delay determines how soon the item begins to appear after the one that precedes it.
