How to Fix Link Update Error

I have an Excel file at work that throws a security warning to enable content regarding updating links. Upon clicking the link, it prompts an error that Excel is "Unable to open http:// . The internet ..". I don't want anything linking out of the workbook, and I have already cleared the Name Manager so no names exist in the file. Moreover, went through the registry check but could not find the corresponding key mentioned in that article about proxies and external links. Any help would be much appreciated!

You'll need to search each sheet for the text "http://" and remove any formulas that have that text in them. Check your headers and footers also. Those links can be sneaky and hide on you.

I searched through the file for any .xl through formulas and did not find anything either. I ran a compatibility check, which resulted in minor loss of fidelity issues related to "Some formulas in this workbook are linked to other workbooks that are closed. When these formulas are recalculated in earlier versions of Excel without opening the linked workbooks, characters beyond the 255-character limit cannot be returned. Location: Defined Names". There are no defined names in Name Manager either though..

You'll need to search through each worksheet in your workbook for that text of the web link. It's still there somewhere.
