Select a certain range of cells in a row or column using keyboard shortcuts

Hi Guys,

I can't seem to find any relevant material out there for a keyboard shortcut that can select a predefined range of cells either row or column.

Example;

Objective - I need to select 50 cells with 1 keyboard shortcut. (say A1:A50)

Current method - I select the A1+Shift then click on what I believe to be 50 cells total. If the selection is too big or too small I just adjust with the up or down arrow whilst holding Shift. (Using the status bar at the bottom to gauge my total cells selected)

Ideal method - I could program a keyboard shortcut to just go straight from the cell I selected to the cell 49 cells below (or above or to the side). So for example, I could just select A1 and then press something like Shift+G+Down-arrow and it would instantly select 49 more cells below.

Any ideas?

Thanks

    Hi OssieMac,

    Thanks for the suggestion although when processing the file, it is much faster to just do it manually.

    True for a small number of cells but if it involves scrolling to get to the last cell just typing the colon and address is much faster.

    Probably not as shortcut as you would prefer but you can enter a range in the name field at top left of worksheet and press Enter.

    In the following screen shot if the cursor is already in cell A1 then A1 will be displayed in the name field. Type the colon and A50 and press Enter.
