Copying Excell Accounting format into Word

I make pricing overviews in Excel and copy them into Word documents where I make offer/quote letters.

In Excel I always use the accounting format which, until recently, always went perfectly into Word. Simply copy and paste.

It lined up the currency symbol and the decimal points which looks decent.

Suddenly this doesn't happen anymore, now all prices have the currency symbol with one space in front of it.

I can't find in Word, Office help or the internet how to get it back the way it was.

This is my daily job and it's quite time consuming lining everything up manually.

How can I get it working again?

I work with Office 365 ProPlus

Version 1705 (Build 8201.2102)

Hi Mbe-nl,

Based on our test, we can reproduce the problem on our side with the same version, even if we use "Merge Formatting". But in the latest version, if you follow the same steps, you will get the expected result.

So we suggest you wait for the next update, the problem is fixed in the latest version.

While at present, you can use Keep Text Only to paste the data as a workaround.

Regards,

Tisky

In Word, go to File>Options>Advanced>Cut, copy and paste and from dropdown for Pasting from other programs, select "Merge Formatting"

    Hi Tisky,

    thanks for replying.

First of all I work for a huge multi-national so our software is tightly controlled.

This means I can't update Office myself and if I look at my Office account it says "This product will not be updated".

I imagine my employer has turned off automatic updates en will push updates every now and then to my system.

    1. Yes the problem is now between Excel and Word with any Excel en Word documents.

Pasting into an Outlook email has the same result.

    1. Here's an example of the Excel source and Word result side by side.

I used completely blank files instead of the normal templates I use daily. (same result)

    1. As stated the software is all tightly controlled by my employer.

I also do this every day the same way. I cannot imagine what I could have done to suddenly change this. (This doesn't exclude the possibility I'm the cause ;) but it seems unlikely)

I've checked and there have been updates installed for office.
