HOW TO USE MAIL MERGE FIELDS TO REPLACE TEXT WITHIN RECORDS

Anonymous

Hello,

Is it possible to use find and replace text with a merge field? Want to insert a merge field where ever a target specific word or character is within  documents in word 2010.

When text replaced the merge field doesn't work and I can't figure out why.

Any tips to get this to work are much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

To replace text with an actual mergefield, select & copy the mergefield to the clipboard, then use Find/Replace to find the text and specify:

^c

as the Replace expression.

    Hello Paul,

I just realized you are macropod... I've also been trying to do an excel macro to do similar. It's challanging and details are posted here. Don't think it's a quick fix but let me know what you think.

For what you've described in that post a mailmerge wouldn't be appropriate unless you inserted a NextRecord field before all the mergefield replacements except the first. See my separate reply in that thread.
