EXCEL 2007 Error stdole32.tlb with WIN 10

I can install and use Office 2007 normally. After each WIN 10 update (which is frequent) I get a “stdole32.tlb” error when opening EXCEL or WORD and then the program starts to reconfigure. I can cancel the reconfigure and the program opens and works normally, as long as I don’t close the program I can open and work with any file normally.

To fix, I have to uninstall , reboot and reinstall Office 2007.

Any ideas?

Yeah, I hear you about the cloud based system especially because it's a subscription based product. I'm happy using Office 2007 just the way it is - or was before Windows updates.

Didn't want to mess around with registry (as many fixes suggested) and these links helped:

    1) The easy fix in link below worked like a charm - got rid of stdole message and configuring - but it only fixed Word:

         https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2528748/microsoft-office-2010-professional-plus-configures-each-time-you-start

    1. Then found this video which mostly fixed Exel:

I say "mostly" because the annoying 'stdole32.tlb' still pops up but I just close the box and then Exel opens without the configuration nonsense.

Since the latest Windows 10 update I have had this problem.  Spent all day trying various fixes suggested on internet without success.  Looks like Microsoft want us to stop using Office 2007.  I will not use a cloud based system.

It's appalling that a Windows 10 update destroys access to Excel 2007; it also fouled up my Microsoft Outlook - why?

It's so anonymous - who/what can you do to complain to Microsoft?
