Manage files which have no checked in version

Hi,

I'm trying to delete some files from our company SharePoint Site.

When I go to delete the file I get the following error.

File is Checked out or locked - you cannot edit the properties of this document while it is checked out or locked for editing by another user

From reading a few articles, I may be able to resolve this via the Manage files which have no checked in version, but when I try this I get the following:

Sorry, you don't have access - awaiting approval. We'll let you know about any updates

I have full admin access, so not sure who is goig to approve my access to this function.

Any idea?

    Hi Rena,

I have been able to log in as the user and discard the check in as you suggested and I can now delete the file.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    :-)

    Hi Chris,

Refer to Top questions about check out, check in, and versions, the site or library admin should have the rights to discard check out. And this also works by my side.

Please provide us the information below:

    1. Hover over the checkout out icon of the file, check who is the person checked out the file, if it’s possible, you can ask him to check in.
    2. To check if all files can’t be override check out by you, you can change other files to see the result.
    3. To check if only you meet the issue, please try to let other admins click the “discard check out” to see the result.
    4. Create a new test library to see if you have the rights to override check out.

    Thanks,

    Rena

    Hi Chris,

The Library settings > manage files which have no checked in versionfeature should be used with **Library settings > Versioning Settings > Require documents to be checked out before they can be edited.**Only the new uploaded or created files with no checked in version will list in manage files which have no checked in version. That means, not all checked out files will list there.

As you have full admin permission, you should be able to select the file > click the “…” collapse button > more > check in or discard check out > delete the file.

    Thanks,

    Rena
