Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Hi
General release updates are monthly, usually the second week of the month.
Insider Slow updates are monthly, generally the first week of the month.
Insider Fast updates are at usually weekly, sometimes more often, occasionally less often.
If AutoUpdate is trying to install updates more often than you expect, one of two situations is likely on your Mac.
- You have multiple copies of one or more Office apps on your Mac. Use Spotlight to find the duplication and delete the oldest version. AutoUpdate is unable to update multiple copies of an app on your Mac, but it does see them and attempts to update, which fails, and then the process repeats.
- You manually update some apps but not all of them. AutoUpdate sees apps that need updates, but can't update them because they are different versions from the rest of the suite. You can manually install updates, but then turn AutoUpdate to manual so it doesn't drive you crazy as it tries to install updates but fails because it doesn't find consistent versions throughout the suite.
