PowerPoint Asking for Uninstalled Add-In

Briefly, I installed MathType but decided it was not an investment I cared to make, so I uninstalled it. However, now any time I launch PowerPoint it reports in a dialogue box: Sorry, for some reason PowerPoint couldn't load the C:\Program Files (x86)\MathType\Office Support\32\MathType AddIn (PowerPoint 2016).ppam add-in. The only option is OK. Microsoft provided directions to the Add-Ins section of the Options in PowerPoint but MathType does not show up at all in any of those options. Reinstalling MathType gets rid of the message but periodically MathType tells me its trial has expired and some features will not be available. So no matter what, I'm getting annoying messages. Subsequent uninstalls do not properly remove MathType and PowerPoint continues to give the "Sorry" message.

Have a look at my answer here

    http://www.msofficeforums.com/powerpoint/39139-i-have-removed-mathtype-my-laptop-but.html

'In my experience Math Type sometimes leaves an auto load registry key which points to the now removed addin and causes this error.

If you know how to search the registry search the HKLM hive for MathType Addin. If the key exists delete it.

If you are confident working in the registry the key is likely to be at :

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\ Office\16.0\PowerPoint\AddIns\MathType AddIn

If you are not sure about deleting the key double click and change the value of AutoLoad to 0 which will prevent it trying to load.'

Or if under a 32-bit version of Windows, perhaps this?

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Office\16.0\PowerPoint\AddIns\MathType AddIn

If so, one of us can edit your reply accordingly.

You didn't mention if you've tried this, but after uninstalling MathType, if you open **C:\Program Files (x86)\MathType\Office Support\32**, is there anything there? If there is a MathType AddIn (PowerPoint 2016).ppam file, or something similar, try deleting it manually. PowerPoint should be closed when you try this.

I think it removes the 32 bit reg key OK (not sure) but it doesn't kill the key I mention with 64 bit windows and 32 bit Office. Either way it's an AutoLoad key left behind.
