Reference page for a PowerPoint presentation.

Hello!

I can not seem to be able to create a reference slide for all my citations. I know how to insert a reference number for each citation in the text of the slide, but then I can only place that reference at the bottom of the slide. It will not allow me to put more than one numbered reference on the bottom of the slide. For example, I have one slide with two numbered references, but the bottom of the slide only shows one numbered reference. The second numbered reference does not appear. I need a list of references for citations made throughout the slide show. PowerPoint refers to a reference page but does not instruct you on how to create it. Terribly frustrating. Help if at all possible.

Go to Insert>Header & Footer, check the Footer checkbox and click on Apply to make the footer box visible. Then do all your editing on the slide rather than in the Header & Footer dialog. You can enter carriage returns. Numbering should get applied automatically after you number the first item:

PowerPoint doesn't includes referencing as a program feature, so referencing must be done manually. Perhaps you are already using the footer field for references, but there is no reason you can't include more than one reference there. Likewise, a reference slide would have to be created manually.

If you can include the steps you are using now to create a reference, we'll have a better idea of why you might be having a problem.

The PowerPoint User Voice forum is the place where Microsoft looks for user suggestions. There is a similar item there, you can add your vote to it. Or you can create a new suggestion, if this one is too general: Include automatic references generation in Powerpoint

Thanks, John! Frankly, I am very surprised that after all the previous versions of PowerPoint, Microsoft has yet to include the ability to create a reference slide! Seems like a no-brainer! I am going to send them a request for this for their next version.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

    John,

Thanks so much for your reply. The problem I am having concerning footnotes at the bottom of the slide is that the footer only allows for one reference in the footer field. For example, I have a slide with five footnotes numbered 1-5. The footer field accommodates the first footnote (#1), but when I go to put the second footnote the field replaces the first with second. What I have had to do is place the citations in the same footnote field separating each one with a comma. An example: 1 John Jones, 2008, 2 Sally Smith, 2009, 3 Dave Edwards, 2004, etc. Is there any way I can list the footnotes vertically?

Maybe like: 1 John Jones, 2008

                       2 Sally Smith, 2009

                       3 Dave Edwards, 2004

I greatly appreciate your time and consideration.
