use a tablet Stylus to enter number in Excel cell ?????

i fill in numbers on reports printed from Excel spreadsheets. I want to stop using a clipboard with printed paper, and use a tablet (Surface Pro?) and a Stylus to write the numbers (Data) in the cell.

I've been reading forums and scanning YouTube and I can't find an answer to a Very Simple question:

Is today's Hardware, and software advanced enough to let me write numbers on the tablet, and have it converted to digital type?

this would help speed up the job i do, make it more efficient to not turn in my chicken scratch, only to have the office staff type what I wrote.

    Hi KennyB93940,

You can refer to this article: Draw and write with ink in Office > Other digital ink features section.

I tested on Surface and just like the article said, you can ink your handwriting to shape in Excel. However, it doesn't have the Ink to Text feature just like OneNote 2016, where you can ink your handwritten text (including numbers) into digital type.

Regarding your situation, I think you can turn on touch keyboard instead, tap that to quickly fill in the cells.

Or, use OneNote to record your handwritten text.

    Hi KennyB93940,

Regarding your requirement, you can bring a Surface, open the worksheet file, use the stylus to tap a cell and input numbers in virtual keyboard or handwriting input.

You can also search for some 3rd party applications, to keep using your clipBoard with ordinary paper, then make the app scan/format your handwritten data, and fill back into Excel.

    Thanks,

    Jim

    Thanks Jim,

The way i'm in the field, on construction sites, i need to use a tablet as a ClipBoard to write numbers in the cells of a spreadsheet report. not always a place to set it on something and type (Real keyboard, or virtual).

I need a tablet to replace a clipboard if technoligy is there.

has Anyone tried to write numbers in the cells of Excel?
