product key for MS office 365 does not work- wrong region

the original setup of the Microsoft account was set up with US as my region (not clever). I used the free 30 day trail for Microsoft Office . I now want to load the product key for the Office 365 Personal subscription bought from a local retailer in RSA, which is where I am residing but is not allowed to. I changed my region for my Microsoft account to RSA but the message is still displayed after I enter the key. The message is:

Sorry, we can't use this product key because your current subscription was set up in another country/region. You have to wait for your subscription to end before you can use a product key from another country/region. Just hang on to your product key until then or contact support to resolve this immediately.

Error code: BillingAccount

The initial period for the trail version has expired, so I am not sure what to do now?

You can only use Office in the region it was purchased.  See HERE You need to contact Microsoft.

"If you get this message, this means that your product key was purchased in a different country or region than where you're currently located. Office product keys must be redeemed in the country or region where they are purchased. For help with this error, contact Microsoft support."

And if you uninstall the trial version are you then able to install your version via the getoffice url on the card you purchased?

Failing that you would need to speak with 'support chat'
