We have been stuck in a situation where in we have not been able to configure Outlook  and it continually prompts for password. We have tried it from different networks, different systems, but nothing works. Initially OWA was also not working, but now it is working.

We have not been able to get any help till now.

Hi Neha,

Thank you for the information and sorry for the late reply. I’ve checked the Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer report, and I found when attempting to test potential Autodiscover URL, it’s always failed. Thus, I suggest you check if the DNS records of this domain are enabled to be resolved in the domain registrar, especially the CNAME records. You can refer to the article Create DNS records at any DNS hosting provider for Office 365 to add the DNS records to the domain. And then please make sure all of the DNS records are enabled to be resolved.

If the issue persists, please send me the SaRA report and the screenshot of the DNS records configuration in your domain via private message for the further investigation. Your patience and understanding are highly appreciated.

Regards,

Marvin

It is happening for all the users and it is happening in every system, I even tried using a different system.

    1. All the users are facing the issue, no one is able to configure the Outlook.
    2. No we are only using Exchange Online, so I am not sure, but we get the same records in admin center as well

This is what I get when I run SARA

    Hi Neha,

Thank you for post your issue in the community. For the security of your personal information, I have removed the email address and your domain name. Based on your description, the Outlook keeps asking for password when configuring the account. According to the connectivity test, the issue is probably related with the authentication. There’re some suggestions for you.

    1. Double check and make sure there’s no typo in the username and password.
    2. Besides, please clear account credentials in Credential Manager and try to configure again. Before removing the credentials, you can back up credentials.

    1. Also, you can download and run the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistance (SaRA) to try to repair the issue. Moreover, please send me the report of SaRA in Private Message if it’s convenience.

If the issue still exists, for better help you, I’d like to confirm the detailed situation.

    1. Have the others in your organization encountered the same issue?
    2. From my research, I found the MX record of your domain is different with the Office 365 domain, is the account an on-premises account?
    3. Could you export the Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer test result and send it to me in PM?

    Regards,

    Marvin
