Hi,

I use the mendeley citation plugin for my uni assignments, its worked fine for months, but tonight it keeps coming up with this error, 'argument not optional (449) in Mendeley plugin' I have uninstalled plugin then reinstalled, I have updated Mendeley, I have restarted computer. I am boggled as to why, and the reason on Mendeley website is not easy or straightforward to understand.

Hi, I had the same problem with Word 365 ProPlus (version 1806) after installing Mendeley update (1.19.1) today which I fixed as below.

Uninstall MS Word plugin (from Mendeley tools menu)  and then uninstall Mendeley Reference Manager (under Windows menu/Mendeley/Uninstall).

    Restart computer

Download latest Mendeley (1.19.1) Reference Manager Windows installer and install.

Click on tools Install MS Word Plugin from Mendeley.

    Word plugin should now work.

    Hope this helps

    Ben

    Hello James.

I did fix it. I had incorrectly installed my office. I had to unistall it by hand, and later installed it (365) correctly. Once I opened Mendeley and activated the word plugin, it inmediately worked!

    Hope this helps for you!

I am having the exact problem you are, and BennyBoy's suggestions didn't work for me either. Did you fix your issue?

    Hi,

I suspect that an update to Office 365 changed something that Mendely was depending on (and perhaps should not have been depending on).

If the repair does not help, you may need to step back an update or two until Mendeley fixes their program.
