Change a Heading's font color?

Hello, I am setting up multilevel bullet style in a brand new document.  It is the Heading 1 style in Word 2016, inside Office 365 Home.  I wish to change the color of the font at every one of the many levels.  it comes standard with a pale blue which I do not like.  It looks poor when printed on a monochrome printer.  Would it be simplest to CTRL+A select all text and change the color to black?  Though that sounds good for this document, what if I want only the bullet headings red, for instance, and all other text black.

Then i enter text, and hit Enter to go to the next line, and find that Bullets and Numbering changes to inactive.  That is annoying, but is only the beginning of my frustration. Word made two decisions for me, cancelling the first out with the second.

The reason this is happening is that you are using Word's built-in heading styles. The "Style for following paragraph" for those styles is Normal. If you are creating a document in which you want to have bulleted lists, with no intervening normal body text, you should use non-heading styles (such as the List Bullet hierarchy) instead of headings. But anything about the formatting of any style, even the headings, can be modified; you can change the following style--or you can work in Outline view, where pressing Enter at the end of a heading will give you another heading at the same level. But whatever you do, please heed Charles's and Stefan's recommendation to follow Shauna's directions for setting up a multilevel list.

You really need to look at the link that I provided earlier. You want to set up your styles and numbering following the directions there. You can modify the style to any color font or other formatting that you want.

Are you trying to change the color of the bullets themselves, or are you trying to change the color of text?

Assuming, as I believe Charles also did, that you want to change the text color, you should modify each of the heading styles. You can do that from the Apply Styles pane (Ctrl+Shift+S). Type in the style name (such as Heading 1), click Modify and make the desired modifications.

    Hi

Modify the color in the heading styles.

It is possible to set up headings so that they cascade, i.e. each level below heading 1 is based on the heading level above. If you do this' you only need to change the color in the heading 1 style.
