How to set a format as the default one for a Powerpoint shape or text area ?

Hello,

I have seen this article : https://support.office.com/en-us/article/change-the-default-settings-for-a-shape-or-text-box-9eae1b82-f2b8-44d2-9c54-b06d28e581ce?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

However, when I click the button reset formatting after setting the default format, the formatting is still erased. I would like to be able to set the current format as the default one so that clicking on this button has no effect. Is it possible ?

Thank you.

Yet again an Independent Adviser so keen to post they haven't read / understood the question!

The Clear Format button reverts to the value set in the template as the default for Text . Usually this will be the body forn 18 point txt1.

It is possible to set this to the default you need but some of the values (size especially) require manual adjustment of the XML code so not simple for the average user.

Please clarify exactly what it is that you are trying to do & what specific steps you're taking. Details are important.

The only Reset buttons I know of are:

    • The one in the Slides group on the Home tab. Its purpose is to restore the elements on a modified slide to comply with the Slide Layout Master on which it is based. However, that has no effect on anything (such as Drawing Objects, Pictures, Text Boxes) that aren't controlled by the design of the Layout Master.
    • The Reset Picture tool that appears in the Adjust group on the Picture Format contextual tab when one or more pictures are selected. That tool has no effect on anything other than pictures, though.

It also would be good to indicate the specific update level of your Office software, your version of macOS.

Maybe the "CLEAR all formatting" button??

Yes I'm talking about the clear formatting button

I'm on Powerpoint 2016 version 16.14.1 on Mac OS Sierra 10.13.5.

I would like to have a text_box or a shape with a text_box to keep the current text formatting as the default one.

    Thank you.

Perhaps, but that has no impact whatsoever on Drawing Objects [Shapes] or Pictures. Nor does it remove Fills, Lines, etc. from Placeholders or Text Boxes. AFAICT, it affects only text formatting.
