Word 2016 keeps freezing up and saying not responding

It's happening in multiple documents. I'm wondering if it got messed up in the most recent Windows update.

I don't want to have to go into safe mode. I use multiple programs simultaneously, and they won't all work in safe mode, at least I don't think so. Also, I'm an author and cannot afford to lose my work.

I didn't have that in my list of apps.

First, if you saw a response about support with a phone number, do NOT call that number. It is a SCAM. It will be removed from the forum by moderators but you may have received an email when the scammers posted it.

Is this a problem with one document or all documents or something in between?

Does it happen if you open Word in Safe mode?

Safe mode is not a way to regularly use Word, but it is a valuable diagnostic step. If your problem goes away when you use Safe mode, we can walk you through other steps that may help eliminate the problem. Please write back.
