Set Desktop Wallpaper using GPO

Hi,

We have configured a GPO that set the specific desktop wallpaper for our 200 domain users. Our problem here is when they are connected to a different network the background turns black.

Is there a way to configure the desktop wallpaper to be persistent via GPO even users are in different network?

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

I would have expected the source file (in above example) to be some network location or possible \sysvol location as mentioned here.

then use the registry method mentioned here.

in your example above both locations appear to be local on end user's pc C:\

You may want to use a method to copy the wallpaper image file local and then use the registry method to push the policy.

Hi @Anonymous , thank you for the replying to my inquiry. I followed the instruction from the link you shared but I just having problem with pushing a specific desktop wallpaper to a domain user's folder location using GPO.

I want the "desktwp.jpg" to be present at the destination folder when the domain user logged on to the pc. The Destination File is the path I set on my Desktop Wallpaper Policy.

When the user logged in the background turns black because the wallpaper file is not present. The user was configured with Roaming Profile.

Here is the actual path:

User Configuration>Preference>Windows Settings>Files

Action: Create Source file: C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\Share Folder\desktwp.jpg Destination File: C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Windows\desktwp.jpg

Attributes: Read-only, Archive

Let me know if the above configuration is correct.
