Hi there,

Is there is a way to upload an ovf file from vmware to Azure?
We need to use this server for our project, so i wonder what will be the best method to use in order to achieve that.

Appreciate a lot your assistance.

Best regards,

    Hello there,

If you want to migrate a VM packaged in OVA format to Azure, we'll need to convert it to the VHD (Virtual Hard Disk) format first which is supported by Azure.

The OVF Import/Export tool consists of Windows PowerShell cmdlets that enable users of System Center 2012 – Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) to import and export virtual machines that are packaged in the OVF format

Using OVF Packages to Create Virtual Machines in System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012

    Hi,

Is there is a way to do it without System Center 2012 nor vSphere?
Suppose the machine is installed on an Esxi Server, will i be able to run the Microsoft Azure migrate procedure against the ESXi, or I'll have to use Vsphere environment?

(I'm asking this, becasue on my organization we don't have System center we don't use it).

Yes. Migrating from VMware to Azure is fully supported. You can use Azure Migrate, that helps you to migrate your workloads using a centralized portal. Use the following reference to understand the migration process in detail. The document contains step by step details about migrating from Vmware to Azure.

    Hope this helps
