Hi Yael,

Based on the version you provided, you should be on the Monthly channel. When we tested this on the Monthly (Targeted) channel, we could not reproduce the issue anymore. This usually means that the issue is fixed, and all that is left to do is wait for other channels to get this build.

If you would like to get this update faster or test it out, you can follow the following article below to change your channel to Monthly (Targeted):

How to ‘Switch Channels’ for Office 2016 ProPlus

Afterwards, you can double-check whether your channel has been successfully changed via File > Account.

Regards,

Sheen

Thanks Sheen but this still doesn't solve my issue.

The issue is that once I saved a file as CSV UTF 8, I want it to be the file type every time I open the file for editing.

Right now, every time I open the same file if I don't go to the save as and change back to CSV utf 8, by default it will be saved as Unicode text. Unicode text is ruining my data and I am loosing the file. I don't want to remember to go to so save as every time. I work with these types of excels all the time.

    Hi Yael,

Thank you for the explanation. I would like to collect a simple sample file with some data to see if I can save it as UTF-8. Can you please provide one file using dummy data and share it with us? Please also provide a screenshot of the data before and after you save it on Excel (we would like to see how the data is ruined).

We would also like to collect your Office version and product name, which you can find via the article below:

About Office: What version of Office am I using?

    Regards,

    Sheen

    Hi Yael,

When saving a CSV file, you can specify the encoding by going to Save AsBrowseSave as type: CSV > ToolsWeb Options > Encoding: UTF-8, as referred to the picture below:
