How to change horizontal/vertical error bars in Mac Excel 2016?

Hello all,

I'm trying to add custom vertical error bars to a chart using Mac Excel 2016.

I opened 'Add Chart Element' -> 'Error Bars' -> 'More Error Bars Options...' to get the 'Format Error Bars' menu, yet I get either horizontal or vertical error bars, each for another data series, and I cannot find where to choose which kind of error bar to format.

For example, while formatting one data series both horizontal and vertical error bars automatically appeared, I'd like to remove the horizontal bars and format the verticals bars, alas the 'Format Error Bars' present only '>Vertical Error Bars'.

Can anybody kindly advise?

Many thanks,

Doron.

    Hi Doron,

Thanks for getting back to us.

To move forward, could you please confirm if you have updated your Office to 16.15? And to better assist you, we need to reproduce the chart. Currently we lack the information. Could you please share with us the detailed steps and related screenshots to create the chart? And please also share with us the sample workbook (you may remove sensitive information) viathe private messageI already sent to you.

    Thanks very much,

    Tina

    Hi Doron,

Thanks for getting back to us.

I have set up the raw data as in your screenshot like below, but how did you set up the chart? Could you please share with us some steps and related screenshots about how you created the chart? And please also share the workbook with us via the private message as suggested in my first reply.

And as your Excel version is rather outdated, you may consider upgrading it to the latest version 16.15.

    Regards,

    Tina

    Hi Tina,

    Thank you for answering :)

Please see the attached screenshot, where I have the series, SE for each series, vertical and horizontal bars that were formed automatically and only vertical bars on the 'Format Error Bars' menu - I see how I can feed the values for needed vertical bars but how can I remove the horizontal bars?

    I'm using Mac Excel 2016 version 15.32.

    Many thanks,

    Doron.

    Hi Doron,

    Thanks for the query.

I did a test with simple data set as below and got the below vertical error bars.

It does not have horizontal error bars.

So to move forward, and to better assist you, could you please share with us the below information?

    1. A screenshot of raw sample data and you may share with us a sample workbook via thePrivate MessageI just sent to you.
    2. Your Excel version (Excel> About Microsoft Excel). Is it version 16.15?

    Thanks,

    Tina
