Lost the start up icons to MS Project 2016

I use Ms Project for home and private use.

I haven't used it for a while and I noticed that the start up icon in the start up menu in windows 10 is not working.

I thought the program was uninstalled for some reason. I downloaded a copy from my Microsoft account and again no luck with the icon.

If you got to an existing MS Project File it will open meaning the program is still functioning.

I am not sure where are the programs files kept on the computer so I cannot get the icon and shortcut link to the execution files. The only way I can get a new file is to go to an existing file and click new.

Does anybody know why I can't get access to a functioning start up link?

Many thanks if you can help.

I’m going to keep digging:

I found this - https://www.ryadel.com/en/microsoft-office-defa...

What about WinProj.exe ? Did you check Program Files as well? (Not x86)

    Hi Charlie,

Many thanks for your information. It solved the problem.

Using the proper name of the execution file Winproj, exe I managed to find its location.

The location of the file is

    Windows (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Microsoft Office >Root > Office 16 > winproj.exe

Charlie many thanks for your patience and kindness

    Have a wonderful day :)

    Elie

    Thanks so much Charlie.

This is the first thing I did. I cannot locate the program files for MS Office including Project. In Fact Project 16 was removed all together.

I downloaded again the MS Office again including Project 2016 but no luck. It is mysterious where they could have be stored. I even searched using contana for Project.exe or Proj.exe could not find it. The only reference it picks up is the setup program for Microsoft Office.

    Thanks so much Charlie

    The search continues

    Hi Elie!

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\ (possibly Program Files x86)

within this folder, do you see PROJECT.exe or PROJ.exe - see if you can launch it. If so, we’ll try to add it to the start menu.

    Let me know!
