The Why: I am an artist.  Very often, as an aid to drawing compositions, a grid is placed on the source photo to help with alignment of elements on the free sketch of the target painting.

The Workaround: I've found that using the "Insert/Tables" command and getting rid of the table's fill and special line formatting, I can superimpose a grid on the artwork of any size and resolution I desire.

Thanks to all who responded and help me think about this issue.  I hope this will be helpful to others.

    Hi StillMatter,

It’s not feasible to print gridlines in PowerPoint or Word. More details can be found here: Show or hide gridlines in Word, PowerPoint, or Excel.
