Word: Cambria font glitch

There seems to be a weird glitch with the Cambria font in Word (Office 2010).

While working on a Word document, suddenly all accents disappeared. That is, letters with an accent (for example ñ š ä) lost the accent so that only the bare letters are left on the screen (n s a).

I found that when converting the Cambria document to PDF, the accents remain gone, and they are also lost in a print.

When the font is changed (for example to Calibri or Times), the accents reappear.

I have this problem with Cambria both on my own stand-alone PC, and on my laptop from work, which works within a network.

How can I repair Cambria?

Well, the latest news is that the glitch is now starting to affect other fonts as well.

It may have something to do with OpenType font features not working as they should, possibly as a result of converting documents in the wrong way.

Or maybe this is the beginning of the end of civilization as we know it...

In the Paragraph dialog, is the line spacing set to "Exactly" some amount? If so, try changing it to "At Least".

By the way, I checked: this is not about Office 2010, but about office 2013 at (work) and Office 2016 (at home).

So something is definitely the matter with the Cambria font.

    Reply is totally useless.

the article Repair an Office application is 100 percent IT jargon which I don't understand.

Also, restarting the application (ie, Word) does not correct the glitch.

Please note that the problem exists on two totally separate computers, so I don't see how re-installing Office 2010 is gonna help. The glitch may be an integral part of the program.

    Hi Nico,

As the support for Office 2010 ended, regarding the Cambria font glitch, we would like to suggest checking the article Repair an Office application to troubleshoot. If you need to re-install Office 2010, you will need Product Key.

    Thanks for your understanding,

    Tina
